This postcard is part of a collection we are working on of anthropomorphic vegetable people from 1800's trade cards. Many companies would use "stock images" to catch the eyes of customers or clients so you might see cards with a vegetable or fish being used to sell tea.
The Great American Tea Company was the original name of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P), an American grocery store chain founded in 1859.
